White Collar Crime | Book Sale
"Business Law ; Text and Cases" which is written by Jonathan M. Purver, William D. Farber, Jimmie E. Tinsley, Christian C. Bjorklund says a major problem in discussing white-collar crime is defining, the subject. Professor Sutherland, who coined the phrase "white-collar crime", defined it as "crime committed by a person of respectability and high social status in the course of his occupation." Over the years the concept of white-collar crime has broadened with emphasis placed more on the nature of criminal activity than on the social status of the offender. According to the definition now most commonly quoted, white-collar crime is "an illegal act or series of illegal acts committed by non-physical means and by concealment of guile, to obtain money or property, to avoid the payment or loss money or property, or to obtain business or personal advantage. (p 1037 - 1038).
